7 Reasons Why You Should Start Blogging Right Now

No matter what you’ve led yourself to believe, your story has the power to transform lives

Have you always felt that you could be a successful blogger someday with a huge fan base and make thousands of dollars off your writing?

Do you feel you have a story to tell, an experience to share, or a skill to teach that the world could benefit from?

Have you always thought of starting, but then, kept putting it off because you are not “ready” yet and you need to sharpen your skills further before you can teach other people?

Been there. I have struggled with writing about the lessons I learned in life for a long, long time. I have dealt with crippling self-doubt, negative comments from close friends, and writer’s block for several years before I finally mustered the courage to put my voice out there in front of the world.

I started blogging in 2014. It was a small start, on a website called Quora, but over the years, I have built a community of 60,000+ readers online — people who value my work and look forward to my next piece.

In this article, I am going to list seven reasons why you should start blogging right now (and how your life will change once you take the plunge)

1. Your Story is One In 7 Billion

No matter how mundane you think your life might be, you are one in seven billion — the culmination of decisions, chance, and experiences no other person on this planet can replicate.

Your story is unique.

Even if the circumstances might have been the same for many, no other person has made of them the same future as you have.

Your story deserves to be heard.

There might be nothing NEW in your story, but it will always be AUTHENTIC. And trust me, when it comes to stories, the world values nothing more than authenticity and raw honesty.

2. Your Voice is Unique

Even if you feel you lead the most boring life of all people, the way you view the world makes you unique.

The way you let your perspectives shape you is special.

The examples you cite, the analogies you draw, the extent to which you let experiences make you feel — all of these add a flavor to your voice that no one else can mimic.

Be open and unabashed about how different you are from the rest. Let your uniqueness stand out — blog about it. Your voice deserves to be heard.

3. You Know Enough

When you compare yourself to the giants in the world of blogging, you might feel that your writing will have nothing new to offer. That your knowledge pales in comparison to the masters and it is better that you give up before you start.

But, believe me when I say this, you know enough.

Your story has the power to change lives in ways you might not believe possible. Yes, your story is enough to add value.

Don’t keep it hidden. Share it with the world.

4. No One Expects You to Be Perfect

You might feel that you will only start blogging when you have achieved a certain level of mastery over the subject.

But, how can you delude yourself into believing that you will ever be a master?

Life is a constant journey, and learning never stops. Don’t let the simple fact that you “don’t know enough” stop you from sharing your knowledge with the world.

It is okay to make mistakes. It is okay to learn as you go.

Start blogging today. Because if you wait till the day you are perfect, you will never stop waiting.

Make your readers a part of your learning journey, and they will feel more connected with the real, flawed, fallible you than they do with anyone else.

5. You Are Creative

You love to create. You derive pleasure out of the process of making videos and writing articles from scratch.

Don’t deprive yourself of this joy because a voice in your head tells you you’re not good enough.

You are allowed to express yourself in whatever way that makes you feel free. You don’t need permission from anyone to be creative, not even that voice inside your head.

6. You’re Already Doing Great

No matter you tell yourself when you look into the mirror, trust me when I say this — you are doing way better than you give yourself credit for.

Your flaws don’t overshadow your good qualities.

Your mistakes don’t define your future.

No matter how cliched it sounds, your failures will be the stepping stones to your success.

You are doing awesome. You just need to show the world a glimpse into your story.

7. The World Stands to Gain From Your Content

You don’t know it yet, but your writing will touch souls and transform lives. People would love to hear from you and learn from your story.

Even if what you are writing about may have been written a thousand times before, your approach and your way of teaching will be different, and this might be more helpful than all those thousand others who have done it before you.

You might not gain instant fame and prosperity, but if your blogging touches even one life, you cannot call it a waste, can you?

You are amazing. You should not deprive the world of your talent.

The Bottom Line

Whatever it is that is stopping you, tell it to shut up and go stop itself. You are stronger than your excuses.

It is going to be a win-win situation when you start blogging — the world will learn from you, and you will gain immensely from the exposure.

Let me sign off with a few words from the most inspiring Liz Gilbert-

Whatever it is that you dream of doing (creating, travelling, loving, inventing, transforming) just do it. Don’t worry if you’re the 100th person to do it. Just do it, anyhow, and be sure that you bring the highest purity of intention to your pursuit. Act from a place of your deepest authenticity and the rest of it will take care of itself…
And trust me, if you are authentic, you WILL be original.
