My Highest-Performing LinkedIn Posts Taught Me These 5 Lessons
Building a brand on LinkedIn can pay off — and how!

Building a brand on LinkedIn can pay off — and how!
After 4 years and 25,000+ followers on LinkedIn, I’m still amazed by the reach a single post can get.
My content regularly receives 10–20k views, all organically generated.
The best part about LinkedIn is that your content can reach a much larger audience than your follower count. This translates to more opportunities, long-term collaborations, and speaking engagements. Many of my clients came from LinkedIn, and I continue to reap the benefits of the solid network I built.
If you’re still on the thoughts about writing on LinkedIn to develop a personal brand, here’s why you should consider it:
- Only a few people create content regularly. You can easily reach your target audience with little effort.
- Posting insights helps you position yourself as an authority in your niche.
- Short-form posts and AI-enhanced visuals are boosting reach like never before. Content that resonates well with your audience travels faster.
- Shares and engagement boost your reach and put you in front of audiences you didn’t know before.
All this said and done, getting started on LinkedIn wasn’t easy. In these years, I experimented a lot before I cracked the code. To help shorten your learning curve, I’ve dissected five of my top-performing posts and the strategies that made them succeed.
Whether you are just starting or trying to take your game to the next level, this framework will help you establish a solid LinkedIn presence and maybe even go viral. Have a look and let me know your thoughts in the comments.
1. Share your story in a consumable form
My posts are a mix of personal stories, latest AI tools, and personal branding tips.
I have a simple mantra: When in doubt, share a personal story in a consumable form.
A large section of the LinkedIn audience are just looking for some motivation when they open the app.
When you share a motivational snippet of your story, it not only builds trust in your profile but also helps break through the monotony of reading corporate banter.
Here’s a post I wrote that shared my story in a structured format —

This post highlights the transitions I made and how they impacted my life. It’s written in a bullet list that’s —
- Easy to consume (and skim)
- Draws attention to major highlights of my journey
- Makes the content look structured and professional
- Users can grasp the message at a glance, boosting engagement
The idea is not just to share stories but to ensure the reader’s attention is hooked till the end.
Key takeaway
Sharing your story will help you weave a connection with your readers.
2. Know what your audience wants
Creating niche-specific content on LinkedIn in a great way to establish thought leadership.
My audience loves reading about the latest AI tools like photo editors, image generators, and humanizers.
They want an honest take, with pros and cons, the best features, how it can benefit them, and real results.
The catch here is to present your results with some storytelling to keep the audience attention hooked until the end. Dumping information and expecting your audience to dig out details isn’t going to work.
Case in point, this is a well-loved post from my LinkedIn profile. It worked because the attached carousel had real prompts the audience could copy-paste and try for themselves. It also showcased results so they were inspired to test the tool.

Make sure your post connects at each step, has a tone of humor and excitement, is well formatted, and contains zero fluff (even if it is super long).
Here’s another post that drew attention to the benefits of an AI headshot generator right away, and included images to show how amazing the results were. The post performed well, and in addition to the numbers you see here, it made me $500+ in affiliate commission.

Key takeaway
Understand what your readers want, like the back of your hand.
3. Share numbers wherever applicable
Transparency is the key, and so is hooking your audience.
On-point data can cut through the noise and create an everlasting impact.
In this post, I hooked the audience with numbers while sharing screenshots in the post image.
The structured formatting, clear connection, and addressing “The Why” behind the trend helped me grab the right eyeballs.

Key takeaway
Posts with the right numbers do multiple wonders.
4. Images to the rescue
Gone are the days when text posts used to create a wave in the LinkedIn community.
As a principle, all my posts have images.
Make sure the images you use are crisp and clear, and 100% related to the message you’re trying to convey.
A good image makes your content look sharp and boosts its reach manifold. On the flipside, adding a random selfie to an unrelated post just for the sake of increasing views might backfire.
It’s the context that matters.

Key takeaway
Spend time on scouting images as much as you do for your posts.
5. Invite conversations
The key to increasing engagement is to keep the conversation going. That’s why I always end my LinkedIn posts with a question.
Even if a reader isn’t a prospective client, they’ll be urged to see what other people have to say about it.
You can even redirect them to your newsletter, blog, or add them to your email list if LinkedIn and other social media platforms decide to pull a Houdini act on an unfortunate day.

Key takeaway
A simple question at the end of your post will build a connection with your audience.
Closing thoughts
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach for LinkedIn, and no two creators have the same trajectory. What’s needed is consistency, relatability, and a mindset shift to make your profile shine.
Summing up, here are the key points that helped me make a mark on LinkedIn and how you can use them on your profile too.
- Know what your audience wants. When your reader’s queries are addressed clearly, you’ll become their favorite in no time.
- Talking only about work isn’t helpful. Let your personality speak to keep things interesting.
- Readers love personal stories. Share your journey and make it relatable to engage your audience.
- Add pictures and structure your content into points. This will not only help your readers connect better but also make it easy for them to consume your content.
- While evergreen content performs well, keep an eye on trends and share them to help your audience stay updated.
