No One Knows You Like I Do

Poetry Sunday

The darkness you so cleverly hide
is there in my heart, deep inside.
You act like you don’t know
but baby, the tears in your eyes show.
You are my tantalising sin,
together, we could be redemption,
we could be ruin.

You know I’ll be on top if you
list every good thing that slipped by you.
The truths you run from,
the temptations that make you squirm-
all of that, and more baby
is everything that makes me, me.

And you know this scares you
that no one knows you like I do.
Keep pretending all you want
but your heart knows this is true.
You are my tantalising sin,
together, we could be redemption,
we could be ruin.

Come on now, baby, think about it
can you really live without it-
this love that makes your world go round,
that keeps you rooted to the ground,
the dizzying highs and distressing lows
can you really let it go?
