There was a time
when I thought you’re my world
Looking into your eyes,
tenderness in my heart unfurled.
Your smiling face
was the end to all my woes
and a single tear of yours
left me in pain’s deepest throes.

In this heart of mine
that knows nothing but to care,
I made a special place
for you and I to share.
With so much care and so much love,
I helped you grow,
and now you’ve found someone else,
ready to fly away, you’re ready to go.

O girl, you’ve betrayed me,
broken my trust.
Now I demand
you give me back all the wasted time — you must.
To play like this with my feelings —
who gave you the right?
I’m never going to forgive you,
even though I give up the fight.

I skipped college on so many days
only to look at you once;
spent all my savings on gifts —
just to see your little joyful dance.
I stayed awake night after night
just so I could write you a song
I looked for your presence in the tune
every time I sang along.

And now you’re gone,
what do I do with all this free time?
I gave you all my love,
tell me, was the fault all mine?
Every night as I cry myself to sleep,
I hear faint whispers in the wind
that everyone in this world is selfish,
I was naïve to be blind.

O girl, you’ve betrayed me,
broken my trust.
Now I demand
you give me back all the wasted time — you must.
To play like this with my feelings —
who gave you the right?
I’m never going to forgive you,
even though I give up the fight.

Now there are no blue ticks
against your name on my phone;
there’s no one to make me feel loved at night —
I’m all alone.
No one to wake me up
with a smile and a kiss,
no one to wait for,
no one to miss.

There’s no respite —
your memories keep coming back to lurk
I’m starting to think,
maybe I was better off with just my work.
Every night as I cry myself to sleep,
I hear faint whispers in the wind
that everyone in this world is selfish,
I was naïve to be blind.

O girl, you’ve betrayed me,
broken my trust.
Now I demand
you give me back all the wasted time — you must.
To play like this with my feelings —
who gave you the right?
I’m never going to forgive you,
even though I give up the fight.

I’m excited to share this with you — I recently published my first book Stolen Reflections: Some stories are told in verse. It is a collection of hand-picked poems and short prose, available in both paperback and e-book formats worldwide. If you like what I write, go ahead and give this book a read. ❤
