The New Word

Microfiction in 49 words.

I always believed that Mandy whom I’d adopted from the orphanage could utter only one word — ‘Five’.

Things changed when I got back home one day to find our cat Tufty was nowhere to be seen even after several search attempts.

Mandy had learned a new word now: “Six.”
