Why did you call me
so late at night?
You sound sad
Is everything alright?
It’s funny you say that
you had a dream of me
for I’m not supposed to be
anything but a memory.
But yes, I think of you too
more often than I’d admit
and I’d let my heart be yours
if our circumstances would permit.
No, don’t cry now
or I’ll tear up too.
And yes, I’ve wished so many times
I could forever be with you.
I really wish we could talk more
but I’ve to hang up soon;
I can’t be too loud, you see
my boyfriend’s in the next room.
Does your girl know
that you spoke to me again,
would you two end up fighting
would she put on you all blame?
Love, please hang up,
I can’t keep talking anymore;
your voice has brought back memories
of happiness and laughter galore.
I wish we didn’t have to let go
I wish you didn’t leave
I wish there was something easier
than to be alone and grieve.
But now I’ll go back to him
cuddle tight and pretend to sleep,
and weep silently remembering
the voice of some one I couldn’t keep.
Goodbye for now, love,
you go back to her too
but promise me you’ll call again soon
for I can’t survive without talking to you.

I’m excited to share this with you — I recently published my first book Stolen Reflections: Some stories are told in verse. It is a collection of hand-picked poems and short prose, available in both paperback and e-book formats worldwide. If you like what I write, go ahead and give this book a read. ❤
